We all know every time an attack occurs and the culprit has been identified/labelled as being a Muslim, the aftermath in terms of Islamophobia and fear for regular Muslims increases.
Thus, in such times, it’s extremely paramount that people of all faiths and backgrounds stands together with those who are wrongly being abused and discriminated – for an act they had absolutely nothing to do with.
Muslims, worldwide leaders and ordinary people, respond to the Westminster bridge attack in London
A London Muslim taxi driver was dreading driving around the city after the horrific Westminster attack. However, an awesome non-Muslim passenger gave the driver his support and in a way said #IWillRideWithYou, similar to what happened in Australia. Here is what happened which was posted by Riaz Khan on his Facebook account.
I received this message this morning from a lad who’s son is in London. A bit of light in this dark world of ours.
Just been dropped off by the loveliest Muslim Taxi Driver in London, in light of the news and what’s happened it was awful to hear how scared he was for his religion and other Asians and how stuff like this and how it’s portrayed on the news instils fear into people making them hate.
One thing he said to me which really upset me was “We can’t help being born into our religions, me Muslim or you Christian, we can’t help being black or being white it’s just how it is but some days I wish that we were all one colour”.
It’s even more awful to come on Facebook and straight away see people blaming said religions and cultures and being so racist, when nothing has even been announced about who this “terrorist” was.
Whether this man was Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu anything, it doesn’t reflect on a whole religion, it doesn’t mean every single man and woman of that culture should suffer. One nutjobs actions define him and nobody else.
Big love to all my London family hope everyone is safe, to my Taxi driver I wish you all the love in the world for you and your newlywed wife, and my thoughts go out to all those affected by these horrible attacks.
Thank you this kind man and we hope all of us can support each other in such simple ways to show humanity exists no matter how much hatred some try to incite.
