The councils of Imams in Japan condemned all discourse that incites hatred, anxiety, or fear toward Muslims.
TOKYO: The Council of Imams in Japan has issued a formal statement expressing deep concern over the recent increase in negative discourse directed toward Muslims in the country as reported byARABNEWS.JP. The Council condemned attempts to portray Muslims as a threat to Japanese society, culture, and security, asserting that
Muslims living in Japan are an integral part of the nation’s human and social fabric.
The statement, of which a copy is received by Arab News Japan, highlights that Muslims in Japan, whether Japanese citizens or foreign residents, contribute to the country through their work, studies, and tax payments. The Council reaffirmed a fundamental commitment to living in peace and dignity while abiding by the Constitution of Japan, local laws, and public order, without exception.
Regarding legal compliance, the Council emphasized that respect for the law is a responsibility for all Muslims. They noted that if administrative issues arise, such as those involving the construction of mosques or Islamic centers, these matters should be resolved through proper legal procedures and cooperation with authorities. The Council stressed that
individual cases or mistakes should not be used as a pretext to attack Islam or the Muslim community.

Furthermore, the Council called upon the people of Japan, local governments, and the media to engage in calm and fair dialogue, urging them to distinguish between the legitimate application of the law and prejudice or sweeping generalizations.
The statement concluded with a prayer for the protection, safety, and stability of Japan, expressing a hope that the country will
continue to embrace all who live within it based on justice and mutual respect.
