50 Muslims killed at Friday prayers in New Zealand terror attack by far right fanatics.
When they can livestream murder of worshippers at prayer you know depravity has sunk to lowest pits as written by brother Moazzam Begg.
This hatred has been stoked by politicians and media. They must be accounted alongside killers.
They said they never expected such a thing to happen in a place like New Zealand. I almost agreed but then I remembered they said exactly the same thing when a gunman killed worshippers in a mosque in Quebec last year. They said the same thing when Anders Breivik carried out his murderous rampage in idyllic Norway.
The truth is this hatred has been stoked at every level and is deeply institutional and transcontinental.
Armed far right groups have turned up outside mosques in the USA, intimidating and threatening unarmed worshippers – as a matter of routine.
Donald Trump’s brazen anti-Muslim rhetoric, Boris Johnson’s vilification of Muslim women, Tommy Robinson, Katie Hopkins, Jayda Fransen, Paul Golding and far more elevated to hero-like status among the “forgotten masses” and given prime time slots on mainstream media and allowed millions of followers on social media.
Far right, Zionist funded “think tanks” presented themselves as “moderate” like the Henry Jackson Society whose leaders, like Douglas Murray, can present speeches to European Parliaments, saying “conditions for Muslims must be made harder across the board,” and how the world “needs less Islam,” or the people like William Shawcross, former founder of HJS, former head of the Charity Commission and Queen’s biographer who said
“Europe and Islam is one of the greatest, most terrifying problems of our future”.
In the US, intellectuals like Sam Harris who are very close to Maajid Nawaz and his Quilliam deformists can openly say:
“It is time we admitted that we are not at war with ‘terrorism.’ We are at war with Islam.”
Sayeda Warsi has been saying for years that Islamophobia is endemic within her own Conservative party but the truth is this hatred spans the political and class divide.
The war on terror was launched under Labour Party leadership and laws that followed, targeting the Muslim community all began under them too.
Internationally, the rise of far right views has grown in tandem with extreme Hindu nationalism supporting Trump and attacks against Muslims.
Communist China can imprison, rape and torture over a million Uighur Muslims in the name of fighting extremism.
Syria can prosecute a war using chemical weapons, rape, ethnic cleansing and starvation in the name of fighting extremism and receive full support from Russia.
Britain can pass a new law every year in the name of tackling Muslim beliefs. Donald Trump can say “I believe torture works” and promise to “load up” Guantanamo – because only Muslims have ever been imprisoned in it.
Killing and abusing Muslims has always been justified and easily explained. The fact that it’s happening within the “safe spaces” of white, Five Eyes nations may be an uncomfortable inconvenience but it’s the truth.
Just look at how long the west has been bombing Iraq – nonstop since 1991. Just look at the countries western forces have been involved in devastating: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Libya, Yemen.
There will be many people in Britain and elsewhere secretly and openly celebrating these killings.
Muslims will be mourning but we should also be happy. Death only comes once, so let it be for the sake of Allah. And what greater sake is there than the one who turns his face towards the qibla and raises his hands and heart in preparation for the ultimate communication?
Let us pack the masajid – men and women – this Friday and every Friday, this prayer and every prayer.
Let the masajid finally become places where the matters of the Ummah are discussed and where the khutba inspires and guides rather than pacifies and dulls our faith and senses.
Let the kids run free and laugh knowing that the masjid is a place of worship filled with joy, not stern looks and anger.
Let that be part of our revenge. Let this act be a cause for people to come back to their faith or embrace it anew.
May Allah accept the martyrdom of these worshippers – killed by haters and enemies of Allah and his deen. They follow the path of Omar ibn al-Khattab, Ali ibn Abi Talib, Az-Zubair ibn al-Awam and Abbad ibn Bisher who were attacked and killed in prayer. The only reward for this is al-Firdous al-Ala.
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
O ye who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.
(Ali-Imran: 102)
