Treating the creation of Allah with mercy is a key teaching in Islam. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Be merciful to the people of the earth and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.”
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1924]
Videos showing Muslims being compassionate to animals, most specifically cats, allow us to witness the true teachings of Islam. Here is one of those videos where an elderly Turkish Muslim man is seen feeding a thirsty cat until it is fully satisfied.
May Allah accept and reward the genorisity of this selfless man. Such incidents also bring to mind the saying of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) where he said:
“Allah had once forgiven a prostitute. She passed by a dog panting near a well. Seeing that thirst had nearly killed him, she took off her shoe, tied it to her scarf, and drew up some water. Allah forgave her for that.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 3143, Sahih Muslim 2245]
