I thought I was the only Muslim at work, until something absolutely astonishing happened

I would like to share a pleasant incident that happened to me yesterday.

I was working on my desk when a staff came in and said he wanted to discuss a work related problem with me. As always I agreed to help. We looked at all places in our office to sit and discuss but, because we didn’t have a booking, every place was occupied.

So he said, let’s go on the rooftop and discuss? That was an odd request given the weather but we had no choice. So we went to the rooftop and started discussing.

Half way during the discussion, I couldn’t believe my ears. I was hearing something that sounded like azaan. So I told my colleague to stop talking for a minute. He couldn’t hear anything.

Since I’m the only Muslim in my company I always pray alone and the only time I can get to pray by jamaat is jummah. So I never hear anything close to adhan ever at work.

At the rooftop, I thought I’d gone mad and started hearing stuff because my colleague couldn’t hear a thing. But no, it continued.

When it came to “Hayya Ala Salaah” I couldn’t control myself so I just started moving in the direction of the sound.

As I got closer, I realized that in fact that was adhan and someone was reciting it in a very beautiful way one floor below us. So I went up to that brother and stood behind him and waited till he finished his adhan and then greeted him afterwards.

It was really amazing for us both to see a fellow Muslim to pray together with.

Afterwards, we started talking. He said he is a renovation worker on a temporary contract in this building. He doesn’t usually give adhan before praying because he’s the only one praying.

But at that moment, he just felt like giving adhan so he started reciting it in loud voice.

I couldn’t thank Allah enough for this. Just look at this story brothers and sisters. So many things happening in perfect order just so Allah could make us both pray together.

My colleague coming to me at the right time, not being able to find a place in office to discuss, going to the rooftop at the right time, a person feeling like he needs to give adhan at that time…

Allahu Akbar I can’t imagine how Allah’s plans work.

This incident has made me think about it the whole night. Indeed Allah has a plan for everything. We just need to trust Allah.
